Hero's Journey Organizational Mapping™

The monomyth used as a diagnostic for an organisation in the middle of a change it has not named.

2 chapters · 28,218 words · Still being written

Companies in transformation are almost always somewhere in a story they have not admitted they are in: the refusal of the call, the road of trials, the belly of the whale that the quarterly update describes as a challenging period. Naming the position does real work, because each stage has a characteristic error and a characteristic thing that would help.

The volume is careful about the limits of the frame — the hero's journey flatters leadership, and this material is explicit that in an organisation the hero is usually a collective and sometimes nobody at all.

Elsewhere in the Canon

How this book was made. Many volumes in this house were written with machine assistance. That is the author's declared working method, not a thing found out later, and the practice is itself a published paper with a DOI — Externalized Cognition: A Developmental Theory of Human–AI Co-Creation. The argument, the judgement and the name on the cover are the author's.
