Appendix B: The Luminous Overexcitability Assessment Questionnaire™ — Mapping Your Developmental Raw Material

An instrument, not an essay: the five overexcitabilities, and how to find out which are yours.

1 chapter · 6,544 words

Kazimierz Dąbrowski named five kinds of heightened response — psychomotor, sensual, intellectual, imaginational and emotional — and argued that they are the raw material development works on rather than symptoms to be managed. A person who cannot sit still, who cries at music, who cannot stop turning a problem over at three in the morning, is not malfunctioning; they are carrying more current than the wiring was designed for.

This is the questionnaire that maps yours, with the scoring, the interpretation, and a plain account of what the result does and does not entitle you to conclude. It is an appendix to the positive disintegration volumes and is most useful read beside them.

Elsewhere in the Canon

How this book was made. Many volumes in this house were written with machine assistance. That is the author's declared working method, not a thing found out later, and the practice is itself a published paper with a DOI — Externalized Cognition: A Developmental Theory of Human–AI Co-Creation. The argument, the judgement and the name on the cover are the author's.
