The epistemology comes first in this volume, because it has to. Numerology is a symbolic system, not a mechanism, and its value is as a vocabulary for talking about pattern, phase and recurrence in a life — the same value a person gets from noticing that they have been here before.
On that footing it sets out the traditional correspondences, the personal-year and cycle calculations, and the practice of reading them. It is candid that a reader who finds no use in symbolic systems will find none here, and it does not argue otherwise.
